The Sale of the Philadelphia 76ers Will Lead to Better Results on the Court

The Philadelphia 76ers owner Comcast-Spectacor has been talking about selling the team to a group led by New York-based leveraged buyout specialist Joshua Harris, according to ESPN.

Comcast-Spectacor and their president Ed Snider also own the Philadelphia Flyers and the Wells Fargo Center, and they have run the Sixers since 1996.

While there has been some success during their tenure as owner, including a NBA Finals appearance in 2001, Ed Snider?s main focus has always been the Philadelphia Flyers, and the Sixer?s team has suffered.

Snider is widely considered one of the top five NHL owners in the league, and his focus hasn?t been as much on the NBA or Sixers as it should?ve been. His lack of knowledge on the inner workings of the basketball world led to some terrible signings over the years.

The proposed new owner, Joshua Harris, is 46 years old, and may be looking to make the Sixers into what Mark Cuban has turned the Dallas Mavericks into.

Philadelphia isn?t the greatest basketball market, but there are still plenty of diehard fans that will get behind a team that wants to win and shows it through paying players to come there.

As we saw with the Phillies rebirth in the 2000s, Philadelphia is very receptive to teams that succeed and become jaded about those who don?t.
