Video: Pietrangelo’s center ice goal shows Kings it can get worse

Thursday night's 4-0 loss to the St. Louis Blues will not be one for the Los Angeles Kings' time capsule … unless, of course, they want an example of "what not to do" in order to better educate future generations.

Through two periods, the Blues had a 2-0 lead thanks to a pair of Matt D'Agostini goals and were outshooting the Kings by a mind-boggling margin of 30-6. At 5:09 of the third, defenseman Alex Pietrangelo kicked sand in their faces with this shot from near the red line:

Ouch. Was that Blues coach Davis Payne hiding a laugh with his game notes on the bench? The loss snapped a four-game unbeaten streak for L.A.

For Kings goalie Jonathan Quick, it was his second softy of the night, having given up a short-side goal to D'Agostini that deflated the team with seven seconds before the end of the second period. Will Jonathan Bernier get the nod for Saturday night's showdown with the Anaheim Ducks, or does Terry Murray come back with Quick?
