Saturday’s Three Stars: Burrows puts Canucks halfway to Cup

No. 1 Star: Alex Burrows, Vancouver Canucks

In a game that many believed he should have been watching from the press box, Burrows played a factor in all three Vancouver goals and put home the overtime winner as the Canucks took a 2-0 series lead over the Boston Bruins with a 3-2 victory in Game 2. Opening the scoring with a power play tally in the first, Burrow later set up Daniel Sedin's tying goal midway through the third period with a sweet pass and then took just 11 seconds to score the the winner in overtime:

No. 2 Star: Daniel Sedin, Vancouver Canucks

Sedin is now tied for second in playoff goals after scoring his ninth to help send the game to overtime. In the extra period, Sedin added his 18th point of the postseason assisting on Burrows' winning goal.

No. 3 Star: Alex Edler, Vancouver Canucks

Edler led all Canucks in ice time with 24:53, blocked three shots, assisted on Vancouver's final two goals, and finished a plus-two.

Honorable mention: Roberto Luongo stopped 28 shots, while Tim Thomas made 30 saves, including this fantastic one on Jannik Hansen:

Mark Recchi became the oldest player to score a goal in Stanley Cup Final history at 43 years, 123 days, passing Igor Larionov ... Playing in his first game since suffering an eye injury in March, Manny Malhotra was on the ice for 7:26 and went 6-for-7 in the faceoff circle.

Did you know? Burrows' overtime goal at 11 seconds is second-shortest in Stanley Cup Final history after Brian Skrudland's tally during the 1986 Final for the Montreal Canadiens that took nine seconds. (NHL)

Dishonorable mention: This was Boston's first loss in overtime this postseason. They're now 4-1 ... Boston is 5-22 in Stanley Cup games since winning their last title in 1972 ... Milan Lucic's goal ended Luongo's playoff shutout streak at 137:26.
