Deep Posts: Oh, Pacman

? If you haven't seen it yet, video of Pacman Jones denying any wrongdoing during his arrest this weekend is here (scroll down). Somewhere along the way, Pacman has developed the belief that people wearing neck braces are incapable of crime.

I don't think that's accurate, but I'm not willing to dismiss his claims of innocence, either. Remember last year when police handcuffed Pacman in the back of a squad car for 45 minutes for pretty much no reason? Pacman claimed innocence then, too, and was later completely vindicated. The police ended up apologizing to Pacman for that one.

So, applying that to our current situation, why would I be quick to take the police's word against Pacman here? I'm not saying Pacman's word is impeccable, either, but given what happened last time, and the oft-strained relationship between Cincinnati police and Cincinnati athletes, his account shouldn't be dismissed out of hand, either.

? Kurt Warner likes Tony Romo more than most people. Warner called Romo a "Top 10 Quarterback" and said he has "all the intangibles to be able to take that team to the Super Bowl." I think Romo probably takes more criticism than he deserves, but top ten? That's on the bold side.

I think there are seven guys we can immediately place ahead of Romo, without much of an argument: Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Michael Vick, Philip Rivers, and Ben Roethlisberger. That leaves Romo, at best, at number eight, with guys like Matt Schaub, Matt Ryan, Eli Manning, David Garrard, Joe Flacco and Josh Freeman also arguing for those spots.

Just a random discussion point for a lockout Monday. Romo doesn't quite make my top ten, but I think he's good enough to lead an otherwise good team to a Super Bowl.

? Packers running back Ryan Grant wants his starting job back, but is willing to accept a backup's role, too.

? Chances that Brett Favre attempts another comeback? Less than one percent, says Brett's brother Scott. I assume that means it's going to happen.

? David "Deacon" Turner, former running back for the Bengals, was shot and killed by police this weekend.
