UFC 133: Jon Jones Injured; Phil Davis to Face Rashad Evans

It  appears that the world of MMA will have to wait a while longer before the UFC light heavyweight championship bout between Jon Jones vs. Rashad Evans takes place, if it takes place at all now.

Neil Davidson of the Canadian Press broke the following news via twitter; UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has been forced out of his first title defense due to a hand injury he received during training.  Phil Davis will step in to replace Jones.

The UFC made the announcement official on their website, adding that the fight would take place at UFC 133 on August 6 at Philadelphia's Wells Fargo Center.

This recent unfortunate occurrence leaves many questions for UFC matchmakers, fighters and fans alike.

Now the question is, “Who will win the Davis vs. Evans bout and will they get the next shot at Jones?"

This single happenstance could flip the sport upside down leaving more speculation, analysis and prediction than ever.

Many fans believe that Davis has the best shot at defeating the youngest UFC light heavyweight champion, but he must get past Evans first and Evans is as hungry as ever.

An immediate concern for Evans may be underestimating the eager and explosive Davis. Since he has been preparing for Jones both mentally and physically, it’s possible that Evans may see Davis as a step down in competition and therefore, an easier fight.

Davis is one of the hungriest up and coming fighters in the game today and brings plenty of difficulty to the fight that Evans should be concerned with.
