Search online for just two words, Jack's grandson, and the very first return will offer Nick O'Leary. He's a 6'4", 235lbs. TE from Dwyer High School in Palm Beach, FL who recently committed to the Florida State Seminoles, and happens to be the grandson of noteworthy competitor, Jack Nicklaus.
This O'Leary dude, the No. 2 recruited high school tight end in the country, has the look of one of those powerful, aircraft-carrier-type tight ends who seem to have a knack for turning small gains into big ones, and big ones into game breakers.
In any event, Nick O'Leary gives the Seminoles a playmaker at the tight end position.
According to Nick's enthusiastic high school coach, "Florida State is getting a guy that runs great routes and has the best set of hands. When the ball's in the air he has great body control. Nick is a serious matchup problem for defenses. He is very physical."
Scouting reports give O'Leary blue chip speed, strength and agility.
Scouts think he can easily handle more body weight and say he is very impressive at running precise routes. He is considered a mismatch for less physical linebackers, and, like I said, a danger to break off big runs after the catch with a powerful running style.
His intensity level combined with the skills mentioned give him a great shot at making a very positive impact on the FSU offensive in his freshman year.
He sort of looks like Jack too, so he probably needs some kind of golden nickname to go with the Golden Bear. I'll offer Golden Eagle and let the Florida State fans take it from there.
