NFL Draft Rumors: Are the Miami Dolphins Souring on Mark Ingram at No. 15?

Mark Ingram Could Be The 2011 NFL Draft?s Only First-Round RB, But Will He Be A Miami Dolphin?

In a draft thin on top-end talent at running back, Alabama?s Mark Ingram has stood alone as the best rusher available. With few teams prioritizing the RB position, though, Ingram?s best chance at coming off the board in Round 1 seemed to be the Miami Dolphins at No. 15.

Do the Dolphins actually want Ingram? They?re likely in the market for a runner with their top two backs facing free agency, but recent reports had suggested that they might look for a solution later in the draft.

Now, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports that the Dolphins may have changed their minds again. GM Jeff Ireland, commenting on the conventional wisdom that successful RBs can be found late in the draft, told the paper, ?if you look at the top running backs in this league over time, they?re going to be first- and second-round picks.?

Ultimately, the biggest factor in whether the Dolphins take Ingram may be that they don?t have much else to do with their first-round pick. Many of the best value players on the board at No. 15 will be defensive ends, a position which isn?t a Miami priority.

Unless they want to take Florida?s Mike Pouncey as insurance for free agent Richie Incognito?s possible departure, the Dolphins will be hard-pressed to find a more useful addition at the 15th pick than Ingram.
