Phil Kessel 'Missing' posters will likely not please Brian Burke

Acknowledging our appreciation of fan mockery inside the arena (which usually manifests itself in the bottom of urinals), reader Maddie C. sent over this image after the Toronto Maple Leafs' game with the New Jersey Devils at the ACC, with this note:

"My boyfriend was at the Leafs game tonight and sent me this picture. He said he saw a few of them in the washroom and this one was under his seat!  I think Leaf fans are too hard on Kessel, LOL."

You and Brian Burke both. As you can see, this Phil Kessel "Missing" poster is the work of Dirty Dangle, a satirical Leafs blog. You can view the full version, created earlier this season, here. Guess when he's minus-19, hasn't scored a goal since Jan. 11 and was picked last in a fantasy draft by his peers, it's time to bring out the "Missing" posters again.

Irony, of course, being that Kessel actually had one of his better games in 2011 during last night's loss. From Paul Hunter at the Toronto Star:

Even Phil Kessel has come to life. Although his goal-scoring slump has hit 13 games, he was very engaged in this game, making several key plays and battling for space and pucks. It was Kessel that made a great play on Toronto's goal as he sacrificed his body, scooping up a rebound and feeding linemate Nikolai Kulemin in front for a tap-in.

Perhaps there's still time for Kessel to play well enough to thwart a wave of milk cartons with his picture on them flooding the ACC ...

Meanwhile, please welcome a new and exciting site to the hockey blogosphere: DidTheMapleLeafsWin.com.
