Caleb Hanie: Jay Cutler and Todd Collins Unable To Return According to NFL Rules

Caleb Hanie has just put the Chicago Bears on the board. They have been stunted by the Packers defense all day. But early in the fourth quarter, Hanie did what Jay Cutler could not. He threw a touchdown pass to bring the Bears with a score of the Packers.

The Bears better hope that Hanie has more up his sleeve. He is the last quarterback left on the field in a Bears uniform that is able to play. As it stands, Jay Cutler and Todd Collins can not return to the all important NFC Championship game.

The NFL has a third quarterback rule. It states that if a third quarterback enters the game prior to the fourth quarter, the starter and back up become ineligible.

So it seems, the Bears will have to come back from behind using a third string quarterback. So far he is doing fine. But the Bears are running out of time and the pressure will be intense.
