Video: Jeremy Roenick and most awkward Byfuglien interview ever

There are some basic problems and several sphincter-clenching moments in this red carpet interview between the NHL Network's Jeremy Roenick and Kevin Weekes and Atlanta Thrashers defenseman Dustin Byfuglien. Remember: d-e-f-e-n-s-e-m-a-n.

In which Jeremy Roenick assumes Dustin Byfuglien can rap. Take a gander:

To recap:

• Weekes calls him a forward.

• Weekes' microphone cuts out.

• Roenick has "to go on record" about his feelings that it was the "stupidest thing a coach could ever do" to put Byfuglien on defense, and then asks Byfuglien how he felt when this decision was made. You can be excused for thinking this was headed towards an apology, though that is a destination sadly never reached.

• Roenick offers Byfuglien the microphone and asks him for a "quick rap." Byfuglien: "No. I'm a country boy." How odd that it's assumed Dustin Byfuglien can spit rhymes. Maybe because he plays in Atlanta.

• Weekes' microphone cuts out. Again.

Mr. Byfuglien, you're a good sport and a snappy dresser.
