NFL Draft 2011: What If the Dallas Cowboys Trade Up?

Will Cowboys make a splash, or stick with No. 9 pick?

Some of you Cows fans are already cringing at the thought of Jerry getting one of his crazy draft thoughts.

This could be intriguing, though. Was reading through all sorts of NFL Draft info and came across the latest from Matt Mosley. He's providing his list of players who will go on to be "NFL Draft Locks" but my eye caught one thing in particular.

It was with Patrick Peterson. I'll get out of the way and let you see what I did.

"He's starting to show up at No. 7 to the 49ers in a lot of mock drafts, and that would be a steal for San Francisco," Mosley writes. "It would not surprise me one bit if Peterson was the No. 1 player on the board for the Dallas Cowboys. That's how much respect they have for his rare talent. By the time the draft arrives, rest assured that Jerry Jones will have already tried to lay the groundwork with the 49ers or Titans for a potential trade. This is the type of bold move that would help Cowboys fans forget about that 6-10 season."

Yup, think about it. With the lockout still in place, the Cows can't make a play for Nnamdi. Everyone knows corner is a bigtime need, too.

So what if it's a straight up swap of top 10 picks?

Both the Titans and 49ers are just above them, so it's not like it would be anything drastic. If they start asking for multiple picks, I call it off. That's just nonsense.

Dallas has had two other teams call about its current pick as well. Something tells me if it makes good sense, Jerry may be wheeling and dealing a little more than we thought.
