Monday's Three Stars: Duchene leads Avs; Boston's stunning rally

No. 1 Star: Matt Duchene, Colorado Avalanche

Duchene scored twice in the Avs' 4-goal first period, chasing goalie Jimmy Howard with his second tally (and 18th of the season). Later, he connected with David Jones on what would be the game-winner in Colorado's 5-4 victory over the Detroit Red Wings.

No. 2 Star: Kyle Turris, Phoenix Coyotes

The Coyotes forward rang a shot in off the iron and behind Jaroslav Halak to tie the game in the third, and then worked well with Taylor Pyatt to create the Coyotes' fourth goal in a 4-3 win at the St. Louis Blues. Jason LaBarbera made 33 saves including a couple late to preserve the win.

No. 3 Star: Mark Recchi, Boston Bruins

The Bruins roared back from a 2-0 deficit in the third period with four goals in 3:15 to beat the Sid-less Pittsburgh Penguins, 4-2. The game-winner came off the stick of the ageless ex-Penguin Mark Recchi, who redeemed himself after taking an extra two minutes in the second period for unsportsmanlike conduct after a hooking call.

Honorable mention: Either a great win for the Toronto Maple Leafs or a terrible loss for the Los Angeles Kings on home ice, as the Leafs defeated the Kings 3-2. Nikolai Kulemin scored the tiebreaking goal with 15:02 to play and James Reimer made 30 saves. Darryl Boyce and Phil Kessel scored less than a minute apart in the second period. ... David Backes scored his 12th of the season in the Blues' loss. ... Paul Stastny and Henrik Zetterberg both scored their 16th goals of the season. Jan Mursak scored his first NHL goal for Detroit.

Did you know? Zetterberg's goal ran his point streak to 11 games. He has six goals and 10 assists over that span. (AP)

Dishonorable mention: Howard was chased after giving up four goals on 10 shots, on a day when the team announced Chris Osgood would miss up to eight weeks due to groin surgery. ... Niklas Kronwall, Nicklas Lidstrom, Tomas Holmstrom and Zetterberg were all minus-3. ... The Blues and Coyotes continued to stink up the joint on the power play. ... Finally, Cam Janssen got BizNasty'd on home ice:
