Kansas City Chiefs at St. Louis Rams

Why Kansas City Could Win

The Chiefs feature that league's top rushing offense, and they will need to rely heavily on it with Mass Cassel's availability still in question. Jamaal Charles has emerged as one of the most dynamic running backs in football while Thomas Jones has once again quietly posted a quality season. Sam Bradford hasn't looked like a rookie all season but if KC can create some pressure (29 sacks as a team this season), they may be able to force Bradford to make some rookie mistakes.

Why St. Louis Could Win

Playing at home with a chance to all but lock up the division, expect the Rams to come out with heart and emotion. Sam Bradford may struggle to pass against a solid Chiefs secondary that includes star cornerback Brandon Flowers, so they could have to rely heavily on the run. Steven Jackson's yards per carry may have dropped below four, but he's a tireless workhorse who should surpass the 1,000 yards mark for the sixth consecutive season.

Prediction

Both of these teams should run the ball with great frequency on Sunday, but Kansas City has a huge advantage in the rushing game. They have a far superior offensive line and two equally dependable backs to split the heavy load. Even on the road without their starting quarterback, I like KC to leave victorious and retain their spot atop the AFC West Standings. Final Score: 24-17 Kansas City.
