At some point this month, NBA Commissioner David Stern and Deputy Commissioner Adam Silver are expected to once again share a room with players' union executive director Billy Hunter to discuss the league's labor situation and how to avoid a looming lockout.
And if the union representatives were to take the symbolic approach at these proceedings to accurately reflect the current state of affairs as they see them, the scene would look something like this: Hunter sits as far away from Stern and Silver as possible at the start, then walks calmly across the room with olive branches in hand. If the league reps were willing to play along in this not-so-funny skit, they would grab the tokens of peace and reason out of Hunter's hands, then promptly slap him across the face with them.
Yes, NBA fans, it's that bad. And the chances of a lockout are that good.
