A Glimpse From Pre-Season: Julian Edelman Shines in Victory Over Dolphins

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - Many New England Patriots' players had big days Sunday with their 38-7 stomping over the Miami Dolphins. But one player that caught many people's eyes was wide receiver Julian Edelman.

New England's second year wide receiver virtually has done nothing this season after a very promising pre-season.

With wide receiver Wes Welker's knee injury that was sustained a year ago, many thought that Edelman's role was to grow tremendously. However, Welker made a triumphant comeback and was ready to go at the start of this season.

Entering the team's season finale, wide receiver Deion Branch missed practice most of the week with a knee injury and allowed Julian Edelman to get a starting nod. And like many Patriots' this season, when they were given an opportunity, they succeeded.

Edelman played impressive today lining up as the team's number one receiver.

The Kent State alumni snagged three passes for a season-high 72 yards; one pass being 40 yards, which brought the team down to the one-yard-line.

On that play Edelman caught a short pass from Tom Brady, and he simply did the rest. He made multiple Miami defenders miss as he was chased down to the goal-line which lead to a BenJarvus Green-Ellis touch down.

As New England pulled all their starters in the second half, they improved to a league best 14-2 record. With the best record, they will have a bye through the first round of the playoffs and will get an extra week to get healthy.
