Dan Mullen: Urban Meyer's Possible Replacement at Florida

Dan Mullen is emerging as the hottest name to replace Urban Meyer at Florida as the head football coach.

Mullen would certainly be an obvious choice—he has Florida ties as a former coach, he's a protege of Meyer and he knows the SEC.

Oh, and he can coach.

Mullen has done a terrific job since taking over at Mississippi State two years ago. His first season was 5-7; this year, he has the Bulldogs at 8-4 heading into a Gator Bowl showdown with Michigan on New Year's Day.

Would he leave MSU for UF?

One would think, but stranger things have happened, that's for sure. Not to mention the question of whether or not he has contractual obligations—or, if he was smart, whether he had language in his contract that specified he could get out of his deal if Florida came calling.
