Monday's Three Stars: Atlanta's OT thriller; Leafs' huge rally

No. 1 Star: Zach Bogosian, Atlanta Thrashers

The Thrashers defenseman scored at 2:11 of overtime to complete an Atlanta rally, giving the home team a 3-2 victory over the Nashville Predators. Anders Lindback made 34 saves for the Preds, but couldn't stop Bogosian's shot on a Ben Eager pass. "I think he was going to dump it in there," Bogosian told the AP. "I just screamed, and he heard me and just slid it over, and I came in. I wanted to shoot before their two guys came over. They were closing on me pretty quick. So I just wanted to get a shot off, and luckily it went in." Here's the chaotic finish:

No. 2 Star: Rick Nash, Columbus Blue Jackets

The Jackets had dropped five in a row. They needed their captain to step up, and he did: Nash had a first-period assist, a power-play goal with 47 seconds left in the game to tie it and then a goal in the shootout to help Columbus to a 3-2 victory over the Dallas Stars. With Karlis Skrastins in the box, his second penalty of the third period, Nash fired into a crowd in front of Kari Lehtonen to tie the game. Kyle Wilson scored the definitive goal in the shootout for Columbus, as Mathieu Garon made 16 saves in the win.

No. 3 Star: Clarke MacArthur, Toronto Maple Leafs

The Washington Capitals had a 4-1 lead heading into the third period against the Leafs in D.C. Then Mikhail Grabovski scored. Then Tim Brent scored. Then, 59 seconds after Brent, MacArthur completed the night's most unexpected comeback with this empty net goal, his second of the game for the Leafs. Grabovski had the lone goal in the shootout, and the Leafs won 5-4 thanks in part to Jonas Gustavsson's 32 saves.

Honorable mention: Sidney Crosby had a goal and an assist as the Pittsburgh Penguins outlasted the New Jersey Devils, 2-1, to win their 10th straight game. Crosby's 16-game scoring streak (18 goals, 15 assists) is the league's longest this season and ties for the second longest of his career. ... Logan Couture score two goals while Dany Heatley and Joe Thornton (shorthanded) each had one each in the San Jose Sharks' impressive 5-2 road win at the Detroit Red Wings. Couture scored eight seconds after Niclas Wallin tied the game. Antti Niemi made 25 saves. Tomas Holmstrom and Johan Franzen had power-play goals in the loss. ... Mathieu Perreault had a 2-goal game for the Caps after being recalled from the AHL. ... Ondrej Pavelec was impressive again with 27 saves for he Thrashers. ... Brad Richards scored his 12th for the Stars.

Did you know? Detroit fell to 0-9-1 when trailing entering the third.

Dishonorable mention: Jeff Schultz broke his thumb for the Caps and will miss at least a month. ... Ilya Kovalchuk was a minus-2 with three shots on goal after scoring his first goal in nine games against Philly on Saturday. ... Brian Rolston of the Devils hit Paul Martin from behind on a boarding penalty, and Martin was lucky to escape serious injury. ... Finally, horrific night on the score sheet for some of the Red Wings' top players: Henrik Zetterberg (minus-4), Niklas Kronwall (minus-3), Pavel Datsyuk (minus-3) and Todd Bertuzzi (minus-3).
