Wrestlemania: Do You Have to Wrestle There to be Considered a Wrestling Star?

Wrestlemania is the biggest wrestling event of the year. They were absolutely right to use the "Grand Daddy of Them All!" slogan.

Since the event is the measuring stick for the industry, a lot of wrestling fans feel that you have to have worked Wrestlemania, if you want to be considered a true star. In many people's eyes, you're a legend if you have ever been in the main event at Wrestlemania.

That's not necessarily the case.

Sting has never worked a match at Wrestlemania. In fact, he has never even stepped foot inside of a WWE ring. You don't have to be a student of the game to know that Sting is a bona fide legend in this business. His resume alone more than qualifies him. The fact that he's still beloved and respected at this stage of his career is a testament to how great of a career he's had.

Dusty Rhodes, an NWA mainstay for years, has only worked one Wrestlemania match in his career. At Wrestlemania VI, he teamed up with Sapphire in a mixed tag team match against Randy Savage and Sensational Sherri. Even without this match on his resume, Rhodes would be considered a legend. His feud with Ric Flair alone would qualify him in the hall of fame.

A great match at Wrestlemania can help you on your way to becoming a legend. Savage and Ricky Steamboat used a great match in order to move up another level. However, it is not a definite necessity.
